Happy New Year friends and family!
2013 promises to bring big changes to my life. God is working in my life and inspiring me to explore the mission field. He has laid it on my heart to become a part of the Adventure in Missions program for the summer of 2013. I have been given the great opportunity to serve on a mission team to India. I will be spending two months this summer serving in Calcutta, the second largest city in India, and one of the largest Red Light districts in Asia. I will be working with a devoted ministry whose heart is to care for Indian children. Many of the children in this area objectified; forced into hard labor, and made to beg in the streets at the hands of pimps. The youth of Calcutta often don’t know what a home, a warm bed, or a full stomach feel like. But we are working to change all of that. The organization I’ll be working side by side with is a growing ministry that is working to provide homes throughout India, where each child is known, uniquely cared for, and given the chance to flourish, be transformed and redeemed.

I know what you’re wondering. How can you help? I’m glad you asked. Support can come in many different forms. Of course, a trip of this size and length costs money. To be able to serve on this team I need to raise $5,150 by May, 17. That sounds like a ton of money, I know. But I have five months to finish raising funds. If 50 people give up their Starbucks each week for my cause, I’ll have raised my goal.
How else can you help? With such a journey ahead I’ll have a fairly specific packing list to adhere to. We will be sleeping in Churches and Orphanages and will have to have our own sleeping bags, mosquito nets, water purifiers, as well as other things. If you can’t offer any financial support or would like to help in another way, perhaps you can help me cross a few things off my list.
What’s the absolute best help you can offer me? Prayer. I’m so incredibly excited to be taking this next step in life, and I’m eager to see what God has planned for me. But that doesn’t mean I’m fearless. I’ll be serving with a team of people that I don’t yet know. I’ll be journeying into a foreign country, and I’ll be ministering in situations completely new to me. Pray that God guides me through the process of fundraising and preparing myself to serve. Pray that my team and I are kept safe. But mostly, pray that we make a radical, and amazing change in Calcutta.

Thank you in advance for any and all support. I mean it, thank you.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I! Send me!”
